Challenge accepted with a growth mindset
When things don’t go as planned, we feel challenged, and challenges are usually better navigated with “reframing”. “Reframing” is about employing a helpful self-talk in order to deal with a difficulty.
Dr. Carol Dweck’s theory of the mindsets is very useful in this context: when we adopt a “growth mindset”, we perceive ourselves or others as “a work in progress”, we think that challenges can be worked out, mistakes are opportunities for learning & feedback is useful. Whereas, when we adopt a “fixed mindset”, we believe that “people have what they have”, mistakes expose our limitations, challenges should be avoided, and feedback is criticism.
